The Republic of Liberia was on Wednesday, June 17, 2020, overwhelmingly elected as a Member of the  United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to serve a three-year term; beginning January 1, 2021, and ending on December 31, 2023. 

The Republic of Liberia, represented by its Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. has been elected as Vice-Chair of the Special Committee on the Charter of the United Nations and on the Strengthening of the Role of the Organization.

Liberia's Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, His Excellency Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr. says the International Community remains an indispensable partner to the sustenance of peace, security, and democracy and the overall growth and development drive in Liberia.

United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres says the United Nations is in total solidarity with Liberia and remains fully committed to supporting the country in its strive to sustain the peace, and urged the Government of Liberia not to hesitate to call upon the United Nations whenever it is in need.
